Emo’s Generation Gap

New York Times has an article about the state of emo and DC’s Dusk and Summer music.
What’s the difference between an eager Young Turk and an old-fashioned veteran? In the case of Dashboard Confessional, the difference is precisely three years.
Dashboard Confessional is the name used by the tattooed singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba. His songs expressed everything from shivery resentment (”Screaming Infidelities”) to shivery anticipation (”Hands Down”); not a wide range perhaps, but wide enough. His 2003 album, “A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar,” threatened to make him the new face of the next big thing.
