Here is the PRESS RELEASE from Universal Music Australia:

Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba has long been a favourite of Australian audiences. On his last Australian tour, crowds were word perfect as they hung on his every note.

For Dashboard fans, it’s been two long years between tours, but the wait is finally over. Dashboard Confessional will return to Australia this September to perform shows with his band in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth!

Since his last Australian sojourn, Carrabba has been busy writing and recording a new album Dusk and Summer (out now through Universal Music). The release hints at a new direction for Carrabba; who backed by a full band still offers plenty of those sing-along choruses fans have come to know and love.

‘I decided I needed to explore that full sonic realm again… I think everything is cyclical. I’ll be back to me and a guitar at some point. But people are hopefully embracing what I’m doing now… It’s still me; I’m just taking a different avenue to get there.’
Dashboard Confessional’s shows have a history of selling out in Australia, so fans hoping to see Chris Carrabba should get in quickly when tickets go on sale on FRIDAY 4 AUGUST.

The Guardian Newspaper (UK) has a review of the CD. Not so good… They gave it a 2 out of 5.

Outselling their emo (as in “emotional hardcore”) peers to score a no 1 album in the US, Dashboard Confessional depend almost entirely for their appeal on vocalist Chris Carrabba’s boyish good looks, longing expressions and credibility-boosting punk rock tattoos. There are so many pictures of the frontman in Dusk and Summer’s packaging that the music seems to be playing catch-up.

However, the people who know how to market teen angst have fiendishly placed Carrabba’s Robert Smith wail right up in the mix, while polishing the band’s guitars to an identikit FM-radio sheen. It’s commercial gold dust but curiously unemotional. The band only vaguely remember the “hardcore” ingredients in emo on the slightly more edgy title track. Maybe everybody’s buying it for the pictures.

Dashboard Confessional Crafts Shiner Torch Songs [REVIEW]

This is a syncdicated news article.. mostly posted on NBC Affiliate websites.

oh, and did I tell you there’s a link on there to this site. Cool.

Chris Carrabba’s posters might line the walls of hundreds of young teens’ bedrooms, but in return for this gift to young women everywhere, their older sisters just keep doing him wrong, continually bewitching this poor man.

The consequences of this injustice are an almost limitless supply of new Dashboard Confessional torch songs. All of the tracks demonstrate varying moods but share the same purpose: watching Carrabba wrestle with seemingly every facet of love.

The Florida-reared, lite-hard rock group was the late ’90s brainchild of the tattooed dreamboat Carrabba, but became a full-fledged band only a few of years ago. However, it’s still completely Carrabba’s venue to air his diary set to bad poetry and decent, swelling pop melodies. The young people call it emo.

Not quite a case of the song remaining the same, but Dashboard Confessional’s new album, “Dusk And Summer,” demonstrates an increasingly savvy approach to Carrabba’s trademarked, lovesick power ballads. Interestingly, the songs are less about brooding but instead focus on being passionately entranced with someone. Naked passion is something that Carrabba seemingly has in spades, and on this album, he’s using killer choruses to deliver the message.

You can hear paradise in Dashboard’s lights

Is the author of the article talking about a new song? Or just maybe it’s what he have already heard.

Perhaps people attending the show at the Orpheum Theater in Minnesota will possibly hear it first.

The article below is just in time for next week’s show in Minneapolis.

Shhh! Chris Carrabba’s got a secret.

The heavily tattooed glamour puss who fronts Dashboard Confessional has written a potential chart-topper that will quite possibly blow your mind. But he’s not ready to unleash it on the world — not yet, anyway.

“We just played it at sound check,” Carrabba said during a phone interview from a tour stop in Houston last week. “It’s really evident to me that it’s a hit song — it’ll be the biggest song we’ve ever had. It’s too good. It’s not beyond my audience, but it’s where I’m getting to, not where I am right now.”

While that may sound like typical rock-star posturing, Carrabba’s new album, “Dusk and Summer,” suggests otherwise. It’s filled from top to bottom with stadium-rattling anthems that threaten to make Dashboard Confessional the U2 of the 21st century. Carrabba’s probably holding on to this mystery song because “Dusk and Summer” already has a half-dozen tracks that sound like hit singles.
